REGULATOR PANEL / FILE 05 — ON THE RECORD

Building the AI File examiners will ask for

What you'll discover

  • The documents examiners will ask for first, now that model risk guidance doesn't cover AI
  • The evidence standard for moving from AI-assisted review to auto-close, with real numbers
  • How sponsor banks and fintechs should split ownership of AI decisions and audit trails
  • One action to take before your next exam, from each panelist

‍

About this panel

Regulators replaced SR 11-7 with SR 26-2 this year, and the new guidance explicitly leaves generative and agentic AI out of scope. That doesn't mean examiners will skip your AI. It means there's no checklist to hide behind.

‍

This panel follows a single case: a sponsor bank's fintech partner wants to move its AI from assisted review to auto-closing 40% of its monitoring alerts, and the exam letter arrives in 90 days. A former Fed examiner, a model risk validator, a banker who has taken AI through an exam, and a CCO who is also a former FinCEN attorney work through it with Jason Mikula of Fintech Business Weekly. They cover what goes on the request list, what an executive needs before signing off on auto-closing, and where things fail between banks and partners.
